Abstract Presentation Types

Submit your abstract for:

Oral Presentation: If accepted for oral presentation, you will be offered from 10 to 15 minute presentation timeslot during the plenary session.
Poster Display: If accepted for poster display, you will have the poster on display throughout the Congress.

Language: English. All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.

Word limit: 250 words excl. title, authors and affiliations.

Review of abstracts: All abstracts are reviewed by the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee holds the right to offer the author another presentation type or category than the type and category chosen during submission.

Abstracts publication: By submitting an abstract to EB Congress 2024, submitters give their consent to the publication of the submitted abstract in the Congress material (e.g., website)

After acceptance of an oral or poster abstract, the presenting author must register for the full 4-days conference.

Deadline for registration: 31 March 2024

Failure to register may cause exclusion of the abstract and presentation at the Congress.

To support attendance at the Congress, DEBRA International is inviting applications for travel grants from member groups of DEBRA International as well as from people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB) or advocating for people with EB who currently reside in Africa or in the Middle East.

This grant can only be used to help cover the costs of:

Basic registration fee for the event excluding fees for any social activities
Travel equivalent to the most economic fare available for the journey
Budget accommodation which meets reasonable requirements and standards

Application criteria

All sections of the application form must be completed in full.
Only the following people may apply:
- current full and associate member groups of DEBRA International
- people living with EB (person with EB, parent of a child with EB, close relative of a person with EB) currently residing in Africa or the Middle East
- people advocating for those with EB currently residing in Africa or the Middle East
The applicant must be the person attending the event.
The maximum amount of funding available is up to €1,500 per applicant. A caregiver accompanying someone with EB may be granted additional funding. This is not guaranteed and subject to approval.
The grant budget is capped. Some applications may be declined due to funding constraints.

Payment

Payment will be made to the applicant via international bank transfer within 1 month of completion of the event upon receipt of a completed reporting form and payment form accompanied by copies of legible itemised tax invoices/receipts. All forms and receipts must be received within 60 days of the event concluding.
Bank details provided must be correct. Funds returned due to incorrect bank details may result in costs reducing the final grant payment.
If costs incurred amount to less than the maximum amount of the grant initially approved, DEBRA International shall be obliged to pay only such amount as may be necessary to discharge the actual costs.
The total grant value must not be exceeded. If costs incurred exceed the amount of the maximum grant approved, such excess shall be borne by the applicant's DEBRA group/by the applicant.
In exceptional circumstances, agreement for reimbursement before the event takes place may be agreed in advance with DEBRA International. Applicants who receive early reimbursement but who do not ultimately attend the event will be required to return all funds awarded to DEBRA International.
Funding for deposits or prepayment will only be available after the application has been approved.
If the application is not approved, DEBRA International is not liable for any costs already incurred by the applicant for the event.

Reporting

A completed reporting form is required within 1 month of attending the event as a condition of the grant being approved.
Reports may be included in the DEBRA International and EB Clinet annual reports, newsletters, websites, social media accounts, and other digital and printed marketing materials to demonstrate how DEBRA International can provide support.
Further applications for any type of DEBRA International grant will not be considered until a report has been provided. The approval of other grant applications made in the interim period may also be withdrawn.
